For sale is a reproduction base plate that was used with the German WWII Enigma machine. The original base plate was made of cast Zamak (zinc and alloying elements of aluminium, magnesium, and copper): this base plate is made of aluminum, and has a solid bottom [NO CUTOUTS]. The add-ons include four (4) spring cups; two (2) upright advance bar pivot points; and two (2) base structures on either side of the spring cups for the attachment of the right and left bearing blocks (sold separately). The base plate was machined using dimensions provided by Enigma machine blueprints, so all remaining holes in the base plate correspond to the attachment of such items as the bumper stops for the advance pawls (the three holes in front of the spring cups), columns for the keyboard, etc. NOTE: the original base plates had holes drilled in the sides of the base plate for the attachment of a steel case to protect the interior of the machine: those holes are absent [see circled areas in drawing picture]. This base plate weighs 4 lbs 5 oz, and because of its’ rectangular shape and upright add-ons it will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box – 2 for both domestic and international shipping.
